Who Are We?

We are a group from the L&N STEM Academy, a Knoxville magnet high school, participating in the CodeTN website design challenge.

Our members include:

  • Jordan Drake - Art Designer
  • Uziel Rodriguez - Marketer
  • Gavin Endsley - Art Designer
  • Logan O'Neal - Back End Developer
  • Tyler Duckworth - Front End Developer

In addition to us, we were helped by Mr. Clint Lafollette, the Animation and Digital Arts teacher here at the STEM Academy. He helped us present our concept in the most appealing format possible.

The Design Challenge?

We were tasked with designing a web app that solved an issue in our school, community, or world.

Our Solution

Our solution was AllerGPS, an app that helps people with allergies find places to eat easily. This was chosen because of its prevalence in our world today. According to the CDC, the amount of children with food allergies has increaded by 50% in the past 10 years. Rather than letting children or their parents guess where it is OK to eat, our app gives them locations to go to, or avoid.

Credits

We used a lot of different software to create this website and all of its features.

Click to go to the Bootstrap website.

We used Bootstrap, an open-source CSS and JavaScript library to organize our webpage smoothly.

Click to go to the Mapbox website.

We also used MapBox, an online Google Map alternative that features fully customizable and embeded maps
to create the map you use for AllerSearch! We also used MapBox's Geocoding API for part of our application.

We used fullPage.js, the amazing plugin that enables us to create amazing scrolling effects.

In addition to this, we also used WOW.js, a JavaScript plugin that uses Animate.css to create beautiful appear-on-scroll effects.

Finally, for our mobile navbar, we used Materialize.css, Google-owned framework that allows for simple and efficent mobile formatting.
